Behzad Dehno (DK, IR, TR), b. 1993 in Aarhus, based between Geneva and Copenhagen, is an artist whose distinctive approach lies in his ability to transform situations across different contexts – from everyday life to the exhibition space – by employing subtle means and a sharp sense of play to capture the viewer’s attention and challenge both their beliefs and their imagination.
Two central dimensions converge in Dehno’s practice: offering, through art, an experience that shifts the viewer’s perception, and from there initiating a deeper exploration of reality by casting a critical light upon it. Dehno disarms the artistic value of the work’s materiality, yet allows it to remain masked by the codes of the medium. In this way, the physical part of the work functions as props, creating space for what is central to the work: its narrative – which unfolds dramaturgically in the encounter between the viewer and the object.
